Unexpected Blessing: Living the Countercultural Reality of the Beautitudes
Unexpected Blessing: Living the Countercultural Reality of the Beautitudes
Check Price, Read Full Product Information and Customer Reviews.
Product information :
"The Sermon on the Mount is central to Jesus' teachings, but its radical ethic is repeatedly diluted or spiritualized. Unexpected Blessing does neither. In a most readable fashion it draws out the concrete implications of the message for everyday life. Contrary to a self-oriented culture, the Beatitudes point away from self-reliance, self-deception, self-interest, self-absorption and self-righteousness. Blessing in the Kingdom of God, Cameron Lee points out, is more than happiness; it is experiencing 'the favor of God.' But that will require of us faith-full imagination of how the Kingdom of God operates in our times. The status quo is unacceptable because the Beatitudes are countercultural. Such a book we need." Alvin Dueck, Ph.D., Evelyn and Frank Freed Professor of the Integration of Psychology and Theology, Graduate School of Psychology, Fuller Theological Seminary

Slow Food Guide to Chicago (Slow Food Guide to Chicago: Restaurants Markets Bars)
Slow Food Guide to Chicago (Slow Food Guide to Chicago: Restaurants Markets Bars)
Check Price, Read Full Product Information and Customer Reviews.
Product information :
Think "Chicago food" and the first things that come to mind might be fattening, greasy dishes: deep-dish pizza, hot dogs and sausages. But, according to slow foodies Gibson and Lowndes, Chicago is also home to a lush "food landscape" that’s keen on sustainable agriculture and local food traditions, a place with culinary artisans "who practice their craft in much the same way their parents and grandparents did." To that end, they give the nitty-gritty of the city’s best eateries, specialty shops and drinking establishments. There are reviews of the best barbecue joints (places that smoke pork spareribs slowly over fragrant wood), Polish places (go to Halina’s Polish Delights for borscht and blintzes that "sing with flavor") and hot dog venues (such as Little Louie’s in Northbrook, where, if you ask for ketchup on your dog, you "just might get kicked out"). In addition to traditional Chicago food, the authors also discuss Mexican taquerias and haute cuisine meccas, notable dairy and cheese shops, and classic meat markets. Comprehensive, engaging and friendly, this is an indispensable book for visitors and locals.Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Product information :
In 1946, Pietro Ferrero, an Italian candy maker, blended the chocolate and hazelnuts into a spread called "gianduja". The product became so popular that Italian food stores started a service called "The Smearing". Children could go to their local food store with a slice of bread for a "smear" of "gianduja". In 1964 gianduja was renamed "Nutella" (its origin being the word "nut"), and began to be marketed outside Italy! Today, the hazelnut spreads are the number one spreads in Europe. Many well-known producers make a variety of delicious hazelnut spreads. Dobrova hazelnut spreads, produced by the world famous Belgian confectionaries, are made for your indulgence.
